Debbie Anderson is Cree and Saulteaux on her mother’s side and Scottish and English from her father’s side. She was born in Edmonton but spent her younger years in Manitoba. Her First Nation community is Peepeekisis First Nation in Saskatchewan. Debbie came to the Yukon to be closer to her daughter and granddaughter.
Debbie obtained her B.A. and B.Ed degrees in Nova Scotia and has taught, mainly, in First Nations community for the past 20 years. Some of her passions are to see the First Nations graduation rates go up, to have more First Nation teachers in all schools, to have more land--based curriculum opportunities for all students and to bring more awareness of, understanding of and compassion to those living with Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder.
